The Canon Powershot S45 Digital Camera Is My Favorite Camera

Kodak Cameras No Comments »

The Canon powershot s45 digital camera is an elegant and smart camera. It’s one I can carry everywhere, to document those special moments in my life. Friends, family, places I’ve been and special times I’ve experienced are all captured in photographs.

I can still remember the day I received my first camera. It was a gift from my parents for Christmas when I was 10. I was pretty fired up to have my very own camera! As a kid who moved a great deal, it was cool to know I would always be able to take my memories with me. It was often lonely having a dad in the military, because we moved so often.

As my father’s career took us across the country and to Europe I snapped photographs of all sorts of things. I have photos of my family visiting all kinds of tourist spots, on the Atlantic, Pacific and everywhere in between. Once we moved overseas, I discovered even more opportunities to whip out the camera — skiing, Volksmarches, Eurailing and all the famous European landmarks.

On my dad’s side I come from an enormous Irish family. My dad’s first cousins alone numbered almost 100. And I have pictures — of my grandmother, aunts and uncles, of first cousins, second cousins and once-removed, and of all the birthdays, holidays and other events that families celebrate together. Because of my camera I carry my extended family with me anywhere I go.

Then along came digital photography and it appeared my camera had new possibility. I loved how effortless it was now to share pictures — with no trip to the mail box. A few minutes on the computer and I could send my photographs to whoever I wanted to. Of course, who does need a little photoshop help every now and then? How cool to be able to manage red eye, fiddle with contrast and so much more, right from my desk!

Life is different; I’m no longer a teenager, travelling with my parents, but I have kids of my own. The memories I attain are different, but my camera is even now forever with me. Now I can chronicle all the changeds in my growing family, the good, the bad, and the ugly. And there are still all the family celebrations that make our lives so rich.

As far as family goes, our description is changed from the conventional meaning; we didn’t live near much physical family but we manage to find friends that grow to be family. My camera helps me to hang on to these memories for not only myself, but my family, and all the folks that share in my photos.

I have a friend who recently sought my input when buying a camera. Well, after all the pictures I’ve taken and the cameras I’ve owned, the Canon powershot s45 digital camera is my pick. When I consider the reminiscences it captures — my loved ones, my history, my future — that’s a lot to measure up to.

Kodak Cameras No Comments »

Digital cameras has added a new dimension to the art of photography. With these clicking machines, taking a photograph and printing it has become quite easier. Plus, savings made on printing charges are an added advantage. However, there is a  misconception that taking photos from digital camera is all about clicking a button. This is not an acceptable fact. Photography is a creative art. Apart from the technical knowledge about the features of the digital camera, it is essential, that as the photographer you should have a different passion for it. The features of the digital camera can help you take a photo, but the beauty of the picture will ultimately depend on how you take it. So if you plan to take a giclee print of the pictures clicked, then make sure that the original one is flawless. This is essential for giclee printing as it creates exact replicas of the images with the use of ink jet printers. As such, here are some tips that can help you capture perfect moments with your digital camera.

·    Setting the tones

If you are shooting wild life or nature, then you should change the tone of the camera from auto to cloudy. This adjustment is done because it increases the yellow and red hues which makes the photoes appear warm and rich. Wild life motifs are perfect for giclee reproductions owing to the richness of the color.

·    The macro mode

In regular or auto digital settings, you can take good pictures by keeping a distance of about 3 feet. If the close up is activated, then decent pictures can be taken within a foot from the selected object.

·    Polarized filters

Polarizing filters are a must for taking shots of landscapes or any outdoor photograph. Such adjustments reduces the unwanted reflections and glares to get more pure and bright colors in the photo. If a digital camera does not have such filters, then you can take a good quality sunglass and place it in front of the camera lenses. However, don’t forget to check its position in the LCD view finder so that the rims of the sunglass are not covered in the shot. In case this happens, the image might get distorted and then it might not be possible to take a good giclee print out of it.

·    Set to ‘flash on’ mode

The camera should be set to the ‘flash on’ mode in case of an outdoor portrait as it enhances the image quality.  This adds required amount of brightness to illuminate the subject.  With the help of this, you can take good pictures where there is not enough light.

·    Eye level

While taking picture of a person or any animal, make sure that you place the camera at the eye level of the subject. However, this does not mean that the subject requires to stare at you. If the subject is lying on the ground or sitting down, then it is advisable for you to stoop down to the subject’s level and then click the photo.

·    Avoid activities in the background

While taking a good photo, you should try to avoid unnecessary activities in the background. Plain backgrounds can bring more focus and attention to the subject. So, it is better to scan the surrounding while viewing through the view finder to ensure that there is no unnecessary activities in the background.

·    Vertical photos

If the height  of the subject is to be focused on while taking a picture, then it is better to go for vertical photos as the entire subject being visible, can fit in one shot.

·    Sit on a higher position

In case of family photographs, try to place yourself somewhere little higher than the others. Place the members systematically say for example according  to the color of their outfit. This adds a better flow to the photo. Such vibrant family pictures often are choicest  subjects for giclee printing.

·    Take several pictures

If you are new to photography and not so sure about the picture you are taking, then it is always better to take several pictures of the same subject.  Click photographs with new angles and light intensities. At the end when you will see all the photos, then you can easily make a selection of the best one. You can also check the clicked photo immediately on the LCD screen and can decide whether to keep it or not.

·    Go through the manual

Apart from the stated tips, the simplest and easiest way to know about the different usage of your digital camera is to go through the manual. All the details about the features and its applications can be read from the manual.

Thus, these are the few tips following which you can click some great photographs with your high tech digital camera and also get them reproduced with the help of giclee printing.

Type: First and foremost think what type of camera do you need and for what purpose. There are various types of digital cameras available—big-lens camera, medium sized camera, digital slrs and compact cameras. Big-lens cameras provide the most zoom coupled with best quality images; medium-sized cameras provide the best deal though their picture quality is little inferior to big-lens cameras; compact cameras are used for convenience but has inferior image quality as compared to the other two. Batteries and chargers: There are some digital cameras which does not provide extra batteries and a charger. Buying a charger and extra batteries becomes an additional cost so it is always better to purchase a camera that is ready with a charger. It is always wise to have spare batteries for backup.

Camera case: These cases help in protecting your camera from dust, scratches, rain, or other accidental falls. It also protects your camera’s LCD.

Photo printer: Photo printer is a digital cameras best friend. A printer enables you to print your photographs and assemble them in your album anytime you wish to and making it easy to be shared with family and friends.

Tripod: This is used in digital cameras especially at night for avoiding blurred spots. It is also used for long telephoto.

Cables: Choose a camera that provides a USB cable that helps you to transfer your photographs and video to your computer or laptop.

Optimal zooms: Digital cameras usually have two zooms—optical and digital of which the optical zoom is more significant.

Megapixels: It is not the main component of a camera. So it is always wise to choose the megapixel of your camera according to your purpose. Never go for high megapixels than your requirement. 3-4 megapixels are ideal for normal photography. 4 megapixels is generally used for calendars and ads.

With the increasing variety of digital cameras available today, it is always necessary to make a wise decision. Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Kodak are some of the popular brands recommended for best use. So have fun with your digital camera.

Perspex Print- A Stunning Way To Display An Image

Kodak Cameras No Comments »

Perspex prints or the acrylic prints are the best way to display an image in any corner of your home. These prints often also referred to as acrylic printing’ are vibrant replicas of an original photograph clicked with a digital camera.  In the modern usage, such acrylic prints are created through ink jet printing. According to the concept, the image should first be reversed and then placed on the reverse side of the acrylic. Finally, when it is hung, it makes the wall appear beautiful and outstanding. Perspex is the leading brand name for the acrylic prints. Acrylic is similar to glass but they are more vibrant.

Method of printing

The method of acrylic or perspex printing follows two methods. They are:

·    Bonding method: In this method, the image gets printed on a photographic quality special clear vinyl in a reverse pattern. This is usually done at a high resolution. After that, it is sealed to the reverse side of the acrylic. Then the entire panel is passed under a heat press to ensure that the vinyl does not get removed easily. This method is far more better than an ordinary photographic print as it has more vibrant photographic colors.

·    Direct printing method: This method involves lying the acrylic on a printer. The job of the printer is to run its head over the acrylic so that the image gets printed directly.  These printers can’t print white colors so if there is any portion in the image which is white will become see through after the job is done. Due to this disadvanatge many companies does not prefer using this method.

·    Fitting of the perspex or the acrylic print

Fitting an acrylic print is not a tough job. It is usually done in two parts. First, a screw is pushed into the brick or the wall through the hole running through the entire length of the barrrel.  After this is done, the perspex is held against the wall and the smaller part is screwed through the acrylic in the large barrel. The end result is that, the screws are not visible and the image stands out 1 inch from the wall.

Advantages of acrylic prints:

·    The main advantage of acrylic print is that it can be placed anywhere, like  living rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, etc. It is not necessary that such prints can be used only inside a house, they can be placed even outside. This is because such prints are done on a vinyl image with solvent based inks. This prevents the image from getting damaged easily when hung outside.  Herein lies the value of a good quality giclee print.

·    Another advantage of acrylic print is the flexibility to print any type of image, either on acrylic or perspex.

·    A 10mm piece of acrylic is the best choice as it gives a prism type effect from its side and can add  more depth to the image.

There are different type of acrylic or perspex prints and among them the cast perspex is of a superior quality and lasts longer. This gives the image an ultra clear look with added shine. Extruded acrylic should be avoided as they are not stable and easily gets wrapped over a certain period of time.

There are many companies which offer acrylic prints. However, it is always advisable to check whether the company uses the best method or not and whether they can provide superior quality cast perspex or not. Another important thing which you should consider while opting for giclee printing is to ask for a free trial. This would give you an idea about how the image will appear in the final make. There are many reputed companies which offer such facilities and it is better to choose one of such companies. This is because such companies come with a guarantee and there are less chances of the money going waste in case the image does not turn out as desired. After all, a well made giclee print makes for a priceless piece of art.
